Council to seek feedback

SPRINGVALE residents could help decide the future of their town hall, council customer service and library precinct as soon as November.
Cleeland Ward councillor Paul Donovan this week told Star that council was nearing completion on a brief offering two options for the future of the area.
“One of which will be refurbishing and retaining all existing buildings on Springvale Road, the other option is building a new library and entertainment facility and a new carpark in central Springvale,” he said.
“The purpose of that is not to put those forward as two final options but to stimulate discussion about what the people in the Springvale community would like. Those options are not even officially endorsed yet by the council. We still need to look at the brief before it goes out to the public.”
Cr Donovan said he was leaning towards relocating the services closer to central Springvale. He said the brief could be on public exhibit as early as November.
Earlier this week Cr Donovan asked council administration to investigate the growing popularity of customer service outlets in shopping centres as an option for future facilities.
A report to council showed Parkmore Shopping Centre’s customer service outlet had almost 4000 more inquiries during the 2005-06 financial year than either Springvale or Dandenong council offices.
