Push for low-key groups to step up

By Shaun Inguanzo
THE HUNT is under way for obscure and unearthed Noble Park community groups who once found will be offered the chance to attract more members and to gain recognition.
The Noble Park Community Centre in Memorial Drive is gearing up for a major community expo to be held on Sunday, 27 August.
But while the centre has invited high-profile community groups such as the Lions, RSL, Apex, local firefighters and police to be involved with the show, its project officer Max Bartlett wants the lesser-known community groups to emerge from the unknown and reveal themselves to the Noble Park community.
“Naturally, we have got the major groups with their community services as we want to reflect that part in the expo,” he said.
“But we would like to be able to reflect the stamp club or the group that gets together to make a quilt, and any other groups that may be around and meet together, and have some input in the community.”
Mr Bartlett said groups could sign up for the event no later than 16 June.
“It will be a chance to network for various groups, and it is a matter of trying to reflect to the community what is actually around and happening and of interest to it,” he said.
To enquire or express interest in being part of the expo, phone the centre on 9547 5801.
