SPRINGVALE City remains fourth on the Football Federation State League Three ladder after a two-goal win against Fitzroy City at Fairfield Park on Saturday.
The Vales bounced back after the previous week’s 0-0 draw with Nunawading, outscoring the home side 2-0.
Jusuf Pekmezovic slotted one through to take his season tally to six, while Fikret Korkaric also kicked a goal for the Vales.
Springvale City has a tough road to the finals, facing the top three sides in the last five rounds.
The Vales host third-placed Endeavour United this weekend at Ross Reserve before lining up against the Eastern Lions and the Frankston Strikers in the coming weeks.
Doveton also had a win on the weekend, taking the points against Mooroolbark at Waratah Reserve.
Despite losing their last five matches, the Doves were able to kick away to record a 4-2 victory.
Miles Tidd slotted through two goals for the Doves, while Glen Bristow and Leon Buhic scored one each.
Doveton travels to Jack Thomas Reserve this Saturday to take on Berwick City.
