DANDENONG artist Sue Jarvis will next month showcase a collection of artwork reflecting on city life.
City Perspectives is a collection of paintings and photographs by Ms Jarvis, and is described by the gallery in a statement as ‘a thought-provoking body of images making social comment on cities and the people who live in them’.
During her lifetime, Ms Jarvis has written a thesis on the character of 19th century Dandenong which was published in 2001.
In 1971 she produced a short film on the city’s now-demolished Bacon Factory, and the work has been archived at the Centre for Moving Images in Federation Square.
The exhibition will launch on Thursday 6 July at Walker Street Gallery at 6.30pm with Major Projects Minister John Lenders as guest speaker.
The exhibition will run from 3 July to 26 July.
Contact the gallery on 9706 8441 for more information.
