Sister act back to do battle

SOME of the area’s most promising musicians will be on show when the 2005 Battle of the Bands rocks The Venue in Noble Park on Saturday (20 August).
Headlining the battle will be last year’s winner The Almaboobies, the allgirl band made up of sisters Victoria, Elizabeth and Alexandra. The girls have had a successful 12 months since winning last year’s battle.
The Eleventhour, Morning Glory, Innocent Cabbage, Foucault, Mourn the Loss, and Fortune In Lies, are among the bands that will battle it out to win the popular event. Mayor Maria Sampey, said the Battle of the Bands, made possible through Council’s Muso Network program, has been a great platform for aspiring musicians.
“It’s a great opportunity for bands to kickstart their career and, at the same time, learn about performing,” she said.
“The Greater Dandenong area has already produced some wonderful musicians and, thanks to the Battle of the Bands, aspiring young artists have an opportunity to be heard.”
Council’s Muso Network Facilitator, Stuart O’Brien, said he is again expecting a great turnout for the event that is open to all ages and is drug and alcohol free.
“This year will also be the last time we hold the competition at The Venue as next year bands will battle it out at The Castle,” he said.
The Battle of the Bands is on Saturday at The Venue, Memorial Drive, Noble Park.
