Smooth going for China deal

A HUSBAND and wife team, who began their business in Dandenong five years ago, has sent their first shipment of waxing products to China.
Tina and Geoff Copland, who now run their business Jax Wax from their Officer home, distribute various types of wax, including depilatory wax, candle wax and surf wax, to wholesalers in New Zealand and Singapore and are now expecting a warm reception to their product in China.
“We recently attended a beauty expo in Auckland and we were really well received, ” said Ms Copland.
The Coplands both worked within the wax industry for many years, until one day they decided they were tired of working for other people.
It hasn’t taken long for their business to grow, making the usually tough battle of running your own business a relatively smooth run.
“Lots of people go into their own businesses thinking they will be an overnight success, but you have to realise the first few years are tough and just focus on the longterm goals,” Mrs Copland said.
She attributes Jax Wax’s success to being mindful of the competition and looking after their customers.
“Our longterm focus is on export at the moment,” Mrs Copland said.
“We are looking at hopefully branching out to the Middle East and more countries in Asia.”
The Coplands also hope their son, 13yearold Jack, may some day take over the company.
And if that doesn’t eventuate, at least they can thank him for the catchy business name.
