DANDENONG’S first cultural studies hub has opened.
Chisholm Institute of TAFE opened its Building G last week with help from Gary Hardgrave, the federal Vocational and Technical Education Minister.
The building features 15 classrooms, three computer labs and an independent learning centre.
Chisholm chief executive Virginia Simmons said it was designed to be environmentally friendly, with natural ventilation and water-saving features built in.
It incorporates a language and cultural studies hub, a first for the Dandenong region.
The hub will provide a range of language and cultural studies programs for people to gain further skills and training, improve their English, or have previous education recognised within Australia.
Building G will also provide adult education focused on literacy and numeracy skills, further study, or gaining employment.
Chisholm’s VCAL intermediate automotive and hospitality classes will also operate from the new building.
