SPECIAL Olympics Victoria held its regional basketball championships at the Dandenong Basketball Stadium on Sunday.
Participants from the southern and eastern metropolitan areas took part in a series of matches with proud parent and volunteer helper Julie Owers describing the day as an amazing success.
“It went really well. Everyone had a ball,” she said.
The top ranked teams progress through to the state championships to be held in October at Echuca.
Among the standout performers from the regional championships was Nick Bruin who represented Dandy Valley.
Nick has been selected to tour New Zealand in November as part of a Victorian representative team.
