IT’S TRUE what they say, size doesn’t matter.
That’s the case for new welding technology developed and made in Dandenong that proves big things come in small packages.
Energy and Resources Minister Peter Batchelor launched the new technology at Frontline Australasia, a Bangholme-based company already using the new welding tip.
Mr Batchelor congratulated the government supported Centre for Energy and Greenhouse Technologies (CEGT), which had invested in and provided support for MIGfast Pty Ltd to develop and manufacture the tips.
“MIGfast has recently opened premises in Dandenong and already employs eight people with sufficient room for expansion to meet existing and new customer demand for the energy saving tip,” he said.
“Frontline is already issuing the tips and manufacture precision components for clients in the aircraft, automotive, defence and environmental industries.”
Frontline Australasia CEO Kevin Hooper congratulated MIGfast for designing the new tips and said his company had already seen a 50 per cent rise in productivity since its introduction. “It’s allowing us to be internationally competitive,” he said.
“We are the only company in the world who are using the tips across the board.”
MIGfast CEO Adrian Boden thanked Frontline for allowing them to officially launch the technology at their plant.
“This allows us to show how the technology works,” he said.
“There are many benefits including increased productivity, improved working environments and reduced heat input to name a few.”
Mr Boden said that the company had received interest from other national and international companies hoping to introduce the technology into their own businesses.
