A PLANNED security strike by MSS guards could affect Dandenong’s family court and Holden factory.
MSS is one of Australia’s largest security contractors and looks after the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Australian Army barracks, oil supplies, hospitals, banks and government buildings.
A spokesperson for The Australian Liquor, Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers Union (LHMU) said guards were frustrated that after over six months of negotiations, MSS was refusing to raise salaries of the workers.
On Wednesday the LHMU filed for the right to strike over the pay dispute, a decision is expected today (on Thursday).
If they are given the right to strike many sites in Dandenong could be affected.
The LHMU said in a press release that the Dandenong Hospital, Dandenong Family Court and banks in the area could be closed without proper security.
