Noble aim for finals

HOPES of Noble Park’s first XI appearing in finals hinge on making 112 runs with eight wickets in hand against higher-placed Preston next Saturday.
After winning the toss and sending Preston in to bat, the Noble bowlers led by Rizan Mawzoon had the home side on the ropes taking eight wickets and restricting Preston to 59 off 42 overs by the tea break.
After tea Preston crawled to 111 with the loss of a further wicket before declaring with 30 minutes left in the day. Mawzoon taking 3/32 off 23 overs with 15-year-old Luke Vincent taking 2/16 off eight overs.
Noble’s chase got off to the worse start possible being 2/0 off the first two balls of the innings with Darren Seccull and Jake D’Atri both back in the shed. Peter Harper (1) and Rod douthie (6) saw the side to 2/7 at stumps.
Marathon spells by spinners Dale Vaughan and Lyle D’Rozario saw the second XI restrict Preston to 8/231 in their game at Pat Wright Sr oval. After Preston got off to a good start the pair bowled unchanged from the 14th over with Vaughan finishing with 3/90 off 34 overs and D’Rozario 3/93 off 33.
The third XI made 261 in their game against Moorabbin with Dane Rogers continuing his good form making 85. Praveen Jaiswar (57), Doyne Pereira (29) and Jayden Simmons (26) were also among the runs. At stumps Moorabbin reached 57 without loss.
The fourth XI have already claimed first innings points dismissing Moorabbin for 52 and making 200. With the ball it was Zafar Khan (3/17) and Shannon Hoe (3/3) who did the damage while Andrew Parker made a quick-fire 87 with 13-year-old Dale Mawer making 42. Moorabbin reaching 0/11 in their second innings.
