Flag loss in final term

ST JOHN’S Old Collegians suffered a gut-wrenching defeat to Latrobe Uni in their Victorian Amateur Football Association grand final on Sunday.
The Doveton-based club surrendered a four-goal three-quarter-time lead to go down by a single point.
The Division Three decider was played in blustery conditions at Vermont Reserve, and St John’s was unable to hold back the tide in the final term, managing just 1.3 for the quarter.
Andrew Dexter and Kane Arnold led the way for the JOCs, while Aaron Abela and Glenn Costas booted three goals apiece.
A promotion to Division Two next year would have been cold comfort for the St John’s faithful.
