Trawling charges

SEXUAL Crimes Squad detectives have charged a 40-year-old Dandenong man who was allegedly trawling the internet to meet underage girls for sexual purposes.
The man has been bailed on his own undertaking to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court.
He has been charged with one count of grooming a child under the age of 16 over the internet for sexual activity and two counts of sending an indecent communication to a person under the age of 16.A spokesman from the Sexual Crimes Squad warned Victoria Police would continue to vigorously pursue sexual predators and offenders.
“Victoria Police are working in partnership with other law enforcement agencies to identify and pursue people who prey on children or teenagers for sexual purposes,” he said.
“We are pro-actively looking for this sort of activity. Offenders will be caught.”
