A MAN had a 50-millimetre nail embedded in his knee after a work accident in Springvale on Monday.
Advanced life support paramedics were called to treat the 39-year-old man at a factory just after 3.30pm.
Paramedic Jo Downeysaid the nail apparently missed the wood the man was working on and went all the way intohis knee, nailing his tracksuit pants in place.
“The man told us the nail ricocheted off the concrete and went into the side of his knee,” Ms Downey said.
“Thankfully he did the right think and didn’t try to remove the nail, which can cause serious bleeding.”
The man was given pain relief and taken to Dandenong Hospital in a stable condition to have the nail removed.
