Bell’s nine chimes revive Parkfield

WITH hope fading on their chances to make the top four, Parkfield (194 and 3/41dec) defiantly stayed alive in the Turf 1 finals race with an outright victory over Mordialloc (76 and 110).
After surviving a horror collapse last week served up by Mordialloc quick Chathura Athukorala, Parkfield’s bowlers found their rhythm early, knocking the visitors down to 6/34 before Athukorala rescued the innings with a well made 32 to get Mordialloc to 76 all out. Shane Bell was the maestro of mayhem, snaring 4/3 off 2.5 overs, dismissing the tail before they knew what hit them. Steve Spoljaric continued his all-star year with 4/15 and Hemantha Alles (2/21) claimed the other pair of scalps for the Bears.
Parkfield went back in to bat and brought their cannons out of storage, belting 3/41 declared from only 7.3 overs to set up a difficult chase for Mordialloc of 159.
Mordialloc padded up again to chase victory and fell 49 short as the Bell rang on the visitors. Bell claimed 5/47 to rout Mordialloc. Alles claimed 3/24. The win pushes Parkfield within five points of the finals. Parkfield faces Narre Warren away this round.

@BT Sub Sport News:KEYSBOROUGH v NORTH DANDENONG

Keysborough (236) held its own against North Dandenong (6/258dec), with gutsy batting coming from the middle order of Jake Hennigan (79) and Alex Deuchar (36). After finding itself in trouble at 3/28, the revival happened in earnest with Andre Peters (28) and Darren Lawton (22) knocking together a 48 run partnership to steer the Burras out of the developing sinkhole. Hennigan and Deuchar were brought together at the crease and compiled 67 as a combination before Deuchar fell to Wayne Taylor. From there Keysborough couldn’t develop another partnership and fell 22 runs short of what would have been their first victory of the season. Glen Pepper (3/61) and Scott Neeson (2/41) claimed multiple wickets while Gayan Sameera (2/41) capped off a great all-round game with a pair of scalps to go with his 80 not out. North Dandenong creeps up to sixth with the victory. North Dandenong faces Dandenong West at home while Keysborough will travel to Berwick.

@BT Sub Sport News:BUCKLEY RIDGES v BERWICK

Buckley Ridges (124) couldn’t hold back Berwick (198) as Bob Francis (49) and Ryan Crawford (23) helped get the job done to move into second place. With nothing to defend, the Ridges’ bowlers worked to minimise the runflow, but didn’t have enough in the bank to work with. Jeremy Kuru (3/33), Wes Nicholas (3/50) and Shaun Ferriera (2/18) claimed the wickets for Buckley Ridges. Buckley batted again for extended practice and made 4/72. Ridges faces Dandenong West and in the last round Mordialloc, with two wins ensuring a spot in the finals.

@BT Sub Sport News:DOVETON v SPRINGVALE SOUTH

Doveton (9/293cc) continued to romp ahead of the chasers in Turf 1 with a decisive win over Springvale South (151). Jim Boyd (63) and Suranjith Silva (45 n.o.) were the only blokes trying for Springvale South, with the rest of the side contributing 7/36. Dillon Fernandesz held his own at number 11, defending 35 balls in his eight to stick with Silva for as long as possible. Matt Hutchinson (6/31) was the chief destroyer of the Bloods. Springvale South slides to seventh and will need to beat Hallam Kalora Park this week to ensure any chance of a finals’ berth.

@BT Sub Sport News:DANDENONG WEST v HEINZ SOUTHERN DISTRICTS

Heinz Southern Districts (8/227cc) ruthlessly knocked over Dandenong West (116), with Chad Van Estrop (5/34) snaring his first five-for in Turf 1. Van Estrop tore through the middle order of the Wests after Glenn Hamilton (2/20) bagged both openers. Justin Davis (3/26) chipped in with three wickets of his own to complete the rout. Heinz faces Buckley Ridges this week and Dandenong West travel to Dandenong North.
