Meeting export challenge

.
A DANDENONG South manufacturer has received a $250,000 productivity boost.
The State Government awarded GlassCo Australia the cash to buy an insulated glass unit production line to produce multi-glazed products for commercial, domestic and industrial applications.
The company manufactures cut-to-size, float-toughened and laminated glass in different sizes, finishes and packages.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich said the upgrade would allow the company to expand employment and develop export market opportunities.
The funding came from the $3.4 million Investing in Manufacturing Technology (IMT) program, designed to stimulate investment in new technology.
“Victoria is the hub of Australia’s manufacturing industry, but to meet the challenge of the high Australian dollar and competitive international markets manufacturers must look to increase investment in new technology to remain competitive,” Manufacturing, Exports and Trade Minister Richard Dalla-Riva said.
The next round of IMT grants will close on 23 November.
