Rangers perched high

By JARROD POTTER

DANDENONG women swept their Anzac round SEABL double-header while the men knocked over Frankston on Thursday before a narrow loss to Kilsyth on Saturday.
At level-pegging at the final whistle, coach Paul Flynn’s charges showed why they’re three-peat champions in overtime to take the 66-60 win.
His star trio, Clare Papavs (14 points, 12 rebounds), Amelia Todhunter (13 points, 11 rebounds) and Faith Probst (11 points, 12 rebounds) showed their skill, with young point guard Aimie Clydesdale (12 points, five rebounds) also impressing the Anzac Day crowd.
Backing up on Saturday – the Rangers had an easier time knocking off Kilsyth – with a 68-57 win following a 42-28 opening half in Dandenong’s favour.
Todhunter was unstoppable from the perimeter – rattling off 6/6 three-pointers for 25 points and eight rebounds in a best-on-court performance. Rosie Fadljevic (10 points, 14 rebounds) was key under the hoop for Dandenong.
Taking on the Blues on Anzac Day evening, the Rangers men played the game on their terms, smashing Frankston 93 – 61.
Going long down the bench, Rangers coach Darren Perry rotated his charges effectively, with Andrew Harms (15 points) taking the largest portion with 26 minutes and Daequon Montreal (19) continued his stellar form.
On Saturday night, the Rangers men couldn’t squeeze another four points into their fightback against Kilsyth – downed 73-77 after outscoring the Cobras 21-14 down the stretch.
It was another Montreal special on Saturday – hitting 26 points and snaring seven rebounds, while Brent Hobba (12 points, nine rebounds) and Tony Lewis (13 points, nine rebounds) almost clutched double-doubles.
The Dandenong women sit second in the SEABL East while the men currently reside in third.
The Rangers teams will face Brisbane on Sunday from noon.
