ACTING less like cougars and more like kittens, Keysborough was beaten up and down the court by ladder leading Pakenham in their 38-point loss.
Pakenham brought the pain for Keysborough – with the Cougars unable to sustain any positive flow throughout the match.
Severely hampered by Kevin Benn’s absence – Keysborough abandoned the low post game in favour of a fast-paced offence dishing the ball out to their outside shooters – John Constance (1/5 3PM), Adam Sliwinski (1/5 3PM) and Alistair Granger (1/4) to little effect.
Brutalised through the middle terms – the Cougars were outscored 44-21 and struggled to match pace with the speedier Warriors – who stole the ball back 27-18 and outrebounded the taller Cougars 47-38.
Pakenham coach Ryan Rogers benched his starters, but the pain didn’t cease for Keysborough then – with the Warriors’ secondary point guard Craig Drew (11 points) hitting up 5/5 FG with a long three off only nine minutes court-time to put the final nail in the Keysborough coffin losing 48-86.
In a result likely forgotten by this weekend, few Cougars can hold their heads high – with Granger (12 points, five rebounds, four assists) and Dettman (five points, seven rebounds) the best of the crew.
Keysborough has a tough double-header against Melton and Western Port this weekend, with the Cougars taking on the Steelers Sunday afternoon at Springers Leisure Centre.
