GRANGER danger alerts should be issued to all teams foolish enough not to defend the star Keysborough guard closely.
Keilor was foolish enough to give Cougars guard Alistair Granger room to make 31 points, including 7/12 three points made, in the Cougars 101-71 win.
Springers Leisure Centre was a bullseye for the New Zealand guard as he slammed home a season high tally, with five rebounds and six assists to boot in only 28 minutes.
The Thunder was thoroughly tamed by the Keysborough brigade, with John Constance (22 points), Adam Sliwinski (18 points) and Nathaniel O’Hara (11 points, five assists) keeping scoring options open.
Keysborough’s opening half tempo was unstoppable – shooting at absurdly high 61.9 per cent in the first term – including 55.6 per cent from the three point line – the Cougars set out to make amends for a lacklustre start to the season.
The Big Oyster – Robert Ostojic (12 rebounds) wasn’t needed offensively in the rampage, but excellently reeled in 10 defensive rebounds to keep Keilor off their own glass.
Kevin Benn (two points, three rebounds) was eased back into Big V mode – doing the heavy lifting in low post for 16 minutes in a welcome return for Cougars’ fans.
Keysborough sits sixth on the Big V Division 2 ladder – with a 5-6 record – and will aim for 6-6 after the bye when the Cougars face Casey Cavaliers at Cranbourne on 15 June at 8.30pm.
