HALLAM Secondary College’s Senior Girls Football team has
continued its amazing undefeated run, notching its 40th straight win to
claim a second consecutive AFL Victoria Senior Girls Shield.
Since beginning its elite girls’ football program four years ago,
the school team has never lost a game and continues to dominate the
state’s school sporting competitions.
On July 19, they defeated Sacred Heart College Geelong in tough
conditions to advance to the final where they defeated Ballarat
Clarendon College by 13 points to go back-to-back in the statewide
competition.
Coach Brett Alexander, who has been at the helm for four years,
said it was tough to single out players but his best on the day were
Karly Tapner, Brittany Wood, Ebony Hobson, Lauren Hutchinson, Rachael
Hunt, Cassandra Meads and Lauren Hojnacki.
He said it was rewarding to coach a different group of players every year as the year 12s inevitably moved on.
On Thursday the girls claimed victory number 41 after a
comprehensive win over Mornington in the Schools Sports Victoria
Southern Region final.
Their tilt for a fourth consecutive School Sports Victoria title begins on August 6.
