Bulls beefed up

By JARROD POTTER

IN VSDCA action, Noble Park duo Anthony Salomon and Issy Perera charged through Endeavour Hills’ (138) attack.
Set 200 to win in lush conditions at Moodemere Street, the Eagles had their wings clipped early by some nimble Bulls’ bowling. Chris Peake (28) and Jarrod Russell (20) were the only Eagles in the top order to show some resilience at the crease as Salomon (3/32) and Perera (3/40) started working their way down the card.
At 7/73 victory looked a long way off for Endeavour Hills, until backbone was finally applied by ‘father timeless’ himself Richard Saniga (43) – showing the young whippersnappers what batting aptitude resembles. Saniga found a useful partner in Shane Peake (22), with the pair adding 50 for the eighth wicket.
Greatly resembling last round’s effort with Chris Pereira, Saniga held the tail together as the rest of the order failed to fire, but fell as the final scalp to Fernando on 43.
Chipping in for scalps throughout were Noble Park’s Mevan Fernando (2/11) and new-ball bowler Dhanushka Ekanayake (2/28).
The win secures Noble Park’s spot in the top-six and the Bulls finish their 2013 campaign with a two-dayer at Mount Waverley starting Saturday.
Endeavour Hills hosts Croydon in its last match of the year before the Christmas break.
