GREATER Dandenong has signed up to national anti-racism campaign, Racism. It Stops With Me.
Councillor Sean O’Reilly said some councillors thought signing the Australian Human Rights Commission pledge unnecessary because the area’s diversity spoke for itself.
“I think racism is not always overt and it can lurk in the hearts and minds of some people,” he said.
“I’m glad that our council’s making this anti-racism stance bold and on the front foot.”
The council’s logo will appear on publicity in relation to the campaign, which will run until June 2015.
