Hundreds of cannabis plants seized by Dandenong police

By ALECIA PINNER

DANDENONG police have seized 728 hydroponic cannabis plants from four south-eastern properties.

The plants, with a street value of more than $1 million, were found during searches in Keysborough, Clayton, Clayton South and Noble Park.

Detective Senior Constable Jodie Stoll said the first warrant was executed by Dandenong tasking unit and CIU detectives at Kent Court, Keysborough, at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, July 23.

Police discovered that four rooms of the house were being used to grow the crops.

The next day, police conducted searches at the Clayton, Clayton South and Noble Park properties.

As well as the drugs, they seized a large amount of hydroponic equipment.

A Keysborough man, 18, and a Truganina man, 24,  were arrested at the first raid.

They were charged with cultivating cannabis and with other drug offences relating to the four searches.

The men were remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates Court.
