IT SEEMS ‘Jason’ and the rest of the RACV call centre staff aren’t happy.
Roadside assistance call centre staff walked from their switchboards for a protest rally against a pay offer at the RACV’s head office in Noble Park last Wednesday.
Staff waved Australian Services Union banners, expecting the two-hour-plus rally would cause roadside assistance delays that morning.
ASU Private Sector branch secretary Ingrid Stitt said staff were opposed to a 2.5 per cent pay increase in exchange for working an extra 100 minutes a week and cuts to redundancy payouts.
She said RACV directors had been recently granted an 11 per cent pay rise – a “sickening” double-standard.
“We hope today’s rally sends a clear message.
“Staff are reluctant to create delays and disruptions for the public but after six months of negotiation, they had little choice.”
Sandy McIntosh, general manager of RACV’s member contact centre, said service to RACV members continued with “minimal disruption”.
He said employees had rejected a “fair and equitable” pay and conditions offer.
