CEMETERIES in Springvale and Bangholme are now offering twilight services.
Southern Metropolitan Cemeteries Trust (SMCT) operates the Springvale Botanical Cemetery and Bunurong Memorial Park in Bangholme.
CEO Jonathan Tribe said twilight burials and cremations started this month in response to community requests.
“Twilight services potentially mean more people will be able to attend funerals because they will be held outside of normal working hours,” he said.
“This should allow people to celebrate loved ones’ lives without the time pressures associated with daytime services.”
Attendees can remain on-site until gates close at 8pm.
The services will be offered until 27 February when daylight becomes insufficient to complete evening burials.
