AN arsonist lit a piece of paper and threw it into Noble Park grassland on a total fire ban day.
A witness told police he saw a navy blue sedan stop outside a factory at 15 Overseas Drive about 12.45pm on 2 January.
He saw the driver get out of the vehicle and start a grass fire, which caused minor damage to fences.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Kim Alp urged anyone with information to come forward, and for people to keep an eye out for arson during summer.
“If people are witness to such behaviour, they should obtain a registration number and contact triple-zero immediately,” she said.
