THREE people have been hospitalised after a police van travelling through a red light was struck by another vehicle in Dandenong North on Thursday morning.
A police spokeswoman said the police van on “urgent duty” and with flashing lights was driven south on Gladstone Road through the Heatherton Road intersection about 1.40am.
Its rear end was hit by a car travelling east on Heatherton Road.
The car’s driver – a 46-year-old Narre Warren South man – was taken to Dandenong Hospital with minor grazes and burns from his car’s activated airbag.
Two female police officers were taken to Dandenong Hospital also with minor injuries.
The collision’s circumstances would be reviewed, the police spokeswoman said.
