Teens face robbery, assault charges

A BATTERED and bruised robbery victim flagged down a passing police car and got her attackers caught.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said the 24-year-old Dandenong woman was speaking on her mobile phone as she walked along Jesson Crescent, Dandenong, about 7.25pm on Thursday 22 October.
Two men approached the victim, punched and kicked her, and stole her phone.
The victim gave chase and in nearby Ross Street flagged down a passing police car.
“Fortunately we were in the right place at the right time for that one,” she said.
The officers arrested a 13-year-old Dandenong boy and a 15-year-old Frankston boy.
Both will answer charges of robbery and assault. The Dandenong boy was remanded and the Frankston boy was bailed.
Det Sgt Kirton said the victim sustained swelling and bruising to her face and stomach.
“She got her phone back,” he said.
