Teen among four charged with robbery

By CASEY NEILL

Taskforce Tense detectives arrested four people – one a 15-year-old boy – over a series of Dandenong robberies.
They executed warrants at homes in Potter and Woodlee streets, Dandenong, and Cairns Road, Hampton Park, on Thursday 2 June.
The arrests followed a series of robberies that started on Mason Street, Dandenong, about 5.25am on Tuesday 24 May.
Police allege three men demanded a victim’s valuables, chased him down and assaulted him when he tried to run away, and stole his bank card, mobile phone and money.
The following morning, police said, a man was walking south on Thomas Street about 4.35am when three men threatened him and demanded his wallet and mobile phone.
Police allege the victim refused and the offenders punched him in the face, but he escaped.
Shortly after, about 4.40am, two men armed with knuckle dusters approached another man walking south along Thomas Street.
Without speaking to the victim, police said the men punched him in the face and head, stole his phone, cash and a backpack.
A 22-year-old Dandenong man was released and is expected to be charged with robbery on summons.
A 20-year-old Dandenong man was charged with two counts of robbery and a single charge of attempted robbery. He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 2 August.
A 22-year-old Hampton Park man was released pending further inquiries.
A 15-year-old boy was charged with two counts of aggravated burglary, three counts of motor vehicle theft, burglary, criminal damage, three counts of theft, evading police, unlicensed driving and committing indictable offences while on bail.
He was remanded to appear at a Children’s Court at a later date.
