Olympic spirit comes alive locally

Forget Rio – Greater Dandenong is the place to strive for Olympic glory during August.
Greater Dandenong Council is partnering with the YMCA to hold free sporting events across the municipality from Saturday 6 to Monday 22 August.
Would-be Olympians can try their hands at field hockey, swimming, weightlifting, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and triathlon.
The events will be held at JC Mills Reserve, Dandenong Oasis and Harmony Square in Dandenong, Springers Leisure Centre in Keysborough, Noble Park Aquatic Centre and Endeavour Hills Leisure Centre.
A screening of the Olympics opening ceremony in Harmony Square will kick things off at 9am on Saturday 6 April.
