Show guard’s car vandalised

An armed would-be thief threatened an on-duty security guard and vandalised his car in the Dandenong Showgrounds.
Greater Dandenong CIU Senior Constable Riley Wesley said the 52-year-old victim was working at the site about 12.25am on Friday 11 November ahead of the weekend’s Dandenong Show.
A blue two-door hatchback pulled up alongside his car and a man got out.
He approached the victim and threatened him with a knife, thrusting towards him through the open window, demanding his wallet.
The victim, from Pascoe Vale South, said he didn’t have a wallet so the would-be thief went back to the hatchback and returned with a metal bar.
Sen Const Wesley said he damaged the driver’s door of the security guard’s vehicle and smashed the rear passenger window.
The victim drove away from the scene and attended Dandenong police station to report the crime.
He described the would-be thief as aged in his early twenties, about 183 centimetres tall, skinny and Caucasian, and said he was wearing a blue jumper and a red baseball cap.
Call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, with any information.
