A colourful herb garden will stimulate the senses at Wallara.
The Lions Club of Mordialloc-Mentone donated $1000 to the Dandenong-based disability support service as part of a $100,000 project to mark 100 years of Lions.
Wallara’s Grass Busters team used the cash to transform an overgrown, disused garden space at the Potter Street headquarters into a useful space filled with herbs.
The garden maintenance crew has been around since 2013 and gives Wallara clients skills and confidence.
The herb garden complements a sensory garden at the site.
The plants will be used in cooking programs, and the craft group will decorate pots and plant cuttings to be sold in the Wallara Pop-Up Shop in Dandenong Plaza.
Wallara is a support service for adults with a disability with a mission to empower its service users to lead the life that they choose.
