A membership boom is bolstering the Rotary Club of Noble Park-Keysborough.
The club has welcomed seven new members in the past 12 months – the largest addition in 45 years.
Outgoing president Ron Damon said the fresh faces were adding a new dimension to the club and providing different ideas.
Donna Parker signed up after running into Mr Damon.
“Ron and I have been friends since we were both in Rotoract,” she said, referring to Rotary’s incarnation for young members.
“I’ve got four children.
“The youngest one has just left home and I’ve just sold my house and bought a unit.
“I had time to do something.
“It’s a new pathway in my life.”
Sam Fernando is another of the newcomers and has lived in the area all his life.
“It’s always a good way to give back to the community,” he said.
Pam Naylor said the group had interesting guest speakers.
“We just learn bits and pieces about different things,” she said.
She enjoys the banter at meetings and fun activities.
“If you’re community-spirited, it’s the place to be,” she said.
