New classrooms to oust asbestos

Asbestos-riddled classrooms will make way for new learning spaces in Dandenong North.
Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams announced that the State Government would invest $1.9 million in the Dandenong North Primary School project as part of the Asbestos Removal Program.
The program will demolish buildings in poor condition that contain asbestos and replace them with permanent modular buildings.
“Using modular buildings increases flexibility for schools and reduces the interruptions to students, staff and teaching programs,” Ms Williams said.
The new buildings will be built off-site and delivered to also reduce on-site safety risks.
Dandenong North Primary will work with the Victorian School Building Authority over coming weeks to ensure smooth delivery of the major upgrade.
