Bandits strike twice

By Casey Neill

Thugs broke into a Keysborough home and bashed a 49-year-old man for the second time in eight months.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said three men forced entry to the Henderson Road home about 2am on Sunday 25 February.
He said they were all wearing face coverings and brandishing weapons.
Inside were the victim, his girlfriend, and two friends with their one-year-old baby.
The men entered the victim’s bedroom and demanded cash.
Det Sen Const Lavars said they assaulted him with the weapons, described as hammer-type objects.
“He received significant head and upper body injuries,” he said.
Paramedics took the man to The Alfred hospital.
“He’s stable. He’s still in hospital,” he said on Tuesday 27 February.
The victim’s girlfriend escaped through a window during the attack and ran to a neighbour’s house to call triple-zero.
Det Sen Const Lavars said no property was believed to be stolen.
“The three males were seen getting into a waiting vehicle driven by an unknown fourth offender,” he said.
“It was described as a dark-coloured four-wheel drive-type vehicle.”
Det Sen Const Lavars said a similar incident occurred at the same address on Friday 21 July last year.
On that occasion, bandits wearing balaclavas broke a window to enter the home and struck the victim, causing arm and facial injuries.
Two other adults were home during that attack but were not injured. Nothing was stolen.
Det Seon Const Lavars urged anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or Greater Dandenong CIU on 9767 7487.
