Girl refuses would-be robber’s demand

By Casey Neill

A girl refused to hand over her handbag to a would-be robber in central Dandenong.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Tony Lavars said the 17-year-old was on McCrae Street and heading towards Dandenong Plaza Shopping Centre about 11.15am on Wednesday 28 February.
He said a man approached her from behind and demanded her handbag.
Det Sen Const Lavars said the girl refused and continued to walk.
The man left and was last seen at the bus stop on McCrae Street.
He was described as Caucasian and was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and black Nike runners.
Det Sen Const Lavars said no weapons, violence or injuries were involved.
He urged any witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
