Reshma dishes up a winner

A home cook’s write-up on a flavoursome rice-dish has taken out Armada Dandenong Plaza’s food blogger competition.

Reshma Abdul Qadir, of Dandenong, beat a hot field with her article on her Hyderabadi dum biryani.

The other three finalists wrote on fish tikka masala with cauliflower rice, Italian parmigiana, and beef-and-bean quesadilla with homemade tortilla and spicy tomato salsa.

Ms Qadir said she loved trying to add her own ideas to recipes.

“Making biryani takes a lot of time, patience and includes many ingredients.

“I was really proud of the end result and the dish was enjoyed by my whole family in a traditional setting.”

As part of the competition, entrants were provided with vouchers at the plaza to source fresh ingredients and cook their most popular dish.

“Reshma’s easy-to-follow step-by-step cooking process, unique take on making a traditional family dish combined with her clear passion for cooking made her a stand out winner,” the plaza’s marketing manager Priska Budiman said.

Reshma won $500 in plaza vouchers, which she’ll use to buy groceries for friends in financial hardship and to buy presents for overseas family members.
