Men gang-robbed near stations

Two men have been robbed in daylight by groups of youths in central Dandenong and Springvale.

Walking home from work, a 35-year-old man was approached from behind by three males on Royal Avenue Springvale about 5pm on Thursday 1 August.

He was pinned to the ground and kicked and punched to the face and body, police say.

The robbers yelled at the victim to give them his phone and wallet. They stole his iPhone, Apple Watch and headphones and ran towards Springvale railway station.

The group were described as Asian appearance, early twenties, and wearing yellow or orange high-visibility jumpers as well as steel-cap boots.

The victim suffered swelling and abrasions to his face, minor cuts to his hand, chipped teeth and a blood lip.

In the second incident, a 25-year-old man was robbed while walking on Pickett Street towards Dandenong railway station about 4pm on Friday 2 August.

A group of three males approached him. One of them put his hands around the victim and directed him into Abbott Street.

They stole his iPhone and AirPods as well as forcing him to reveal his Apple password and ID.

The robbers rummaged through his backpack and fled towards Pickett Street.

They were described as African appearance, early twenties, about 183 centimetres, slim builds and wearing dark hooded jumpers covering their heads.

The victim was not injured.
