Public Transport Victoria (PTV) has cited “vandalism of equipment” for the partial suspension of the Cranbourne and Pakenham train lines this morning (1 March).

Passengers are urged to plan ahead to avoid the afternoon peak, with buses set to replace trains between Oakleigh and Dandenong for the rest of the day.

As an alternative, PTV suggested using Glen Waverley line trains with with buses on routes 901 or 902.

Cranbourne bound passengers could also use the Frankston Line and local buses on route 791.

“The VicRoads signals team is continuing to monitor road conditions and is adjusting traffic lights to minimise congestion and assist with bus movements,” PTV stated.

“The Department of Transport thanks passengers for their continued patience as crews work to repair the damaged equipment.”

Trains had been replaced by buses since this morning due to the overnight vandalism.
