EFL: Board suspends Noble Park rover over abuse

By Roy Ward

THE Eastern Football League board has suspended Noble Park rover George Angelopoulos for abusing spectators during the Bulls’ game against Balwyn on June 9.

The league cited Angelopoulos for three separate interactions with crowd members.

Two EFL board officials and league chief executive Rob Sharpe overheard the words and last week suspended Angelopoulos for two matches and ordered him to meet the EFL mediation officer to address his behaviour.

The league has not taken any action against any Balwyn spectators or players for their retorts to Angelopoulos, who the league said had declined the chance to meet with the board.

The Weekly couldn’t reach Noble Park for comment yesterday. Angelopoulos is expected to miss the Bulls’ matches against Lilydale this Saturday and Vermont the following Saturday.
