Home invasion terrifies Dandenong family

By  CAMERON-LUCADOU-WELLS

THREE people, including a one-year-old boy, locked themselves in a room as their house and two cars were trashed in a terrifying home invasion in Gladstone Road, Dandenong on Sunday night.

A 40-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl bunkered with the toddler during the onslaught, which police estimate caused $20,000 damage.

Detective Acting Senior Constable Nick Lamb of Greater Dandenong CIU said the alleged assailants — two females and a male — arrived at the house in a light-coloured Holden Statesman about 10.30-11pm. They demanded one of the residents to come outside.

Detective Lamb said members of the group jumped on and smashed windows and rear-view mirrors of two vehicles parked outside the house.

‘‘They just went crazy on [the cars]. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were written off.’’

The offenders then went into the house, smashing windows and damaging furniture.

‘‘They were only there for a very short time,’’ Detective Lamb said.

‘‘Apparently soon after there was some talk on Facebook among youths in the area about the incident.

‘‘The victims are definitely in shock with what happened and are in fear of what further incidents could occur.’’

Any information to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
