Firearm, drugs, cruelty charges after Springvale operation

A MAN has been charged with firearm, drug and animal cruelty offences after being pulled over during a traffic operation in Springvale yesterday.

The 36 year old of Queensland was allegedly intercepted in a reportedly stolen Holden Commodore about 11.30am during an automated numberplate recognition camera operation on Heatherton Road.

The man is expected to face Dandenong Magistrates Court today on charges including trafficking methylamphetamines, carrying or using a loaded firearm in a populous place, possessing an unlicenced category A longarm, and carrying or using a category A firearm in an insecure manner.

He also faces charges of unlicensed driving, using an unregistered vehicle, aggravated cruelty to animals and handling stolen goods.
