Toy gun at Berwick station sparks major police operation

By Catherine Watson

TWO men with a toy gun set off a major police operation at Berwick railway station this morning.

Armed police surrounded the station after reports of two men armed with a gun near the intersection of Clyde Road and the Princes Highway about 9.45am.

A man was arrested at the scene and a second man was arrested in a nearby street just before 11am.

Police said the gun turned out to be a toy Nerf gun. No one was threatened or shot at during the incident.

A 34-year-old Dandenong man was charged with possessing an imitation firearm. The other man was released without charge.
