Dandenong Your Say: Letters to the Editor

Re: Dandenong South train crash: ‘I can’t explain the horror of it all’

The trauma this woman must have gone through is horrific, let alone the ongoing after-effects of surviving this traumatic experience without any proper support. Shame on the government and Melbourne Metro — people have trusted in your system and are then left to dangle dangerously in the land of mental health, with severe repercussions. Look out for yourself Lucia, as it seems these people are not. Seek assistance. May you stay safe and well. Disgusted.

No prescription painkillers — with a fractured shoulder? Given morphine and then sent home with nothing? No counselling organised — and being a public transport accident it is covered by TAC. Lucia, go to your local doctor ASAP. Help is available.

Thank you, voters

I would like to thank the voters of Red Gum Ward for the opportunity of serving them over the next four years as one of their three ward councillors.

I look forward to representing the interests of all residents and ratepayers in Red Gum Ward, whether they voted for me or not, and working collaboratively with other councillors for the betterment of all of Greater Dandenong.

But I don’t want to just passively represent, I want to create more opportunities for residents and ratepayers to get involved in council decision making if they want to. Other councils have online forums and neighbourhood committees that inform decision making.

We should too. By harnessing the ideas of all of us, together we can make Greater Dandenong an even better place to live.

– Matthew Kirwan, Red Gum ward
