Re: Thunder appeal rejected
This is FFV double standards: different rules for different clubs. Who are the culprits? Dandenong’s offer of security for the final was rejected. Where was security at AAMI? They don’t get blamed, even mentioned at all. Shame FFV.

Mergime suggested that the sale of flares be banned. I am afraid that is impossible. The flares being used at soccer matches are marine flares that have been replaced by new ones due to being past their ‘use by date’. Perhaps boat owners should get a refund for returning old flares when they replace them. I also note that neither Melbourne Victory nor Melbourne Heart got fines and bans of the same magnitude when the same thing happened at their game. FFA is inconsistent.

Re: Multicultural rite of passage
Turn to the UK to witness the mistakes that have been made there. A mosque is built in Millfield, Sunderland for ‘British Pakistanis’, then another application is made for ‘British Pakistani Muslims’. Two different applications. Result? Two mosques. The story is never ending.

Re: Positive sign at Noble Park
When Noble Park was first founded, residents would gather under the iconic gum tree for special events. Hopefully, that landmark has now been replaced by this magnificent redevelopment and the new civic space will be the gathering place for many local community events, while the spirit of our forefathers lives on.

Traders deserve a fair go
I do not agree with the letter writer congratulating Greater Dandenong Council on its decision to ban footpath goods displays (Your Voice, March 4). It was a miserable move by the council, which should give as much support to the traders as possible.
Traders work long hours and are faced with high electricity bills and high rental payments and would welcome the added sales of footpath goods. The inconvenience to pedestrians would be minimal so hopefully the council will not turn its attention to Springvale and Noble Park footpaths. Australia is noted as a fair go for all.

Get smart, install solar panels
I wonder how much time and effort was spent engaging solicitors from “one of the largest” and “highly respected law firms” in trying to oppose smart meter installations on council property. I would have thought it would have been better to direct the efforts into installing solar panels on the property to reduce the cost to the community organisations which use the facilities.
