A THIEF wielding a sledgehammer and another brandishing a knife are the subjects of Greater Dandenong witness appeals this week.
A man driving a silver Volkswagen hatch along Henry Street, Noble Park, cut in front of another car and forced it to a stop about 3.30pm on 11 July.
He then approached the car carrying a sledgehammer, smashed the driver’s window and demanded his wallet and phone.
The 18-year-old man complied.
The thief is described as Asian and aged in his 30s with black wavy hair and a moustache, and was last seen driving along Henry Street towards Corrigan Road.
In another armed robbery, a man entered a veterinary surgery at the corner of Stud and McFees roads, Dandenong North, about 6.50pm on 10 July, demanded cash and produced a long knife.
He put the $200 handed over into a blue fabric shopping bag and left in a white Mitsubishi Magna with a loose boot that bounced as he drove off.
The car was last seen travelling along the Monash Freeway towards the city.
The man’s described as Caucasian, 183 centimetres tall with a thin build, unshaven and with missing teeth, and was wearing a light blue hoodie and blue jeans.
Greater Dandenong CIU Acting Detective Sergeant Luke Kirton said the man’s description matched that from a robbery at a Rowville vet surgery earlier the same day.
