■ LACK OF PUBLIC TOILETS
I have been residing in Springvale for 42 years and am disheartened at the disappearance of public toilets.
The only public toilets are at the railway station end of town and
the shopping centre there. Why can’t we have automated toilets down the
other end of Springvale Road, such as they have at other shopping
centres? Somewhere near the Safeway car park would be good.
When I have the grandchildren I have to go from one side of Springvale to the other to take them.
When you walk the footpath, at places you can smell the urine
where people go against the wall because there aren’t any facilities.
Springvale should catch up on this important issue instead of spending thousands of dollars on a useless archway.

■ KANGAROO SHOOTING
With urban sprawl, people are encroaching closer to
wildlife. If the arrow attack on the kangaroo was about proving
someone’s “hunting” abilities, that person needs to learn that kangaroos
are protected wildlife, not moving targets.
The penalties for animal cruelty are inadequate. It’s time to
upgrade them and have custodial sentences. Violence by humans towards
humans is bad enough, but animals must be protected from our crime
statistics.

■ GAGGED BY COUNCIL
I am taking the City of Casey council, its 11
councillors and management to VCAT over the council’s decision to gag me
from asking questions at council meetings since 20 September 2011.
This illegal council ban has been operating for nearly two years and
needs to be removed.
I recently received an email from Maddocks lawyers, whom the City of Casey is employing to fight me, a single Casey ratepayer.
In my financial position, I have no option but to represent myself
at the VCAT hearing, as opposed to the City of Casey, which is using
ratepayer funds against me.
I am totally disappointed with the Casey councillors and
management and I strongly encourage a no vote in the council recognition
referendum.

■ RE: LAKE WINS PRESELECTION
Geoff Lake was the best candidate by so far that his opponents paled in comparison.
Gender was not the issue – integrity was.
For Rosemary Barker to attack Hong Lim and Simon Crean as she has
done only shows the extent to which she did not understand her
electorate, did not possess the integrity needed, did not relate to
Hotham’s ALP members and took a view that would alienate half the
membership.
Gender had nothing to do with the preselection in the minds of most of those involved, except Rosemary’s.

■ RE: SHEER DETERMINATION
According to its website, the RSPCA
requires that: “Companion animal (pet) owners are accountable and liable
for the care, actions and welfare of any animal under their custody,
ownership, management or control.”
Mr Vu Ho meets these standards. Commonsense says he should be
allowed to keep his sheep. We don’t need a man in a wig to tell us that,
and neither should the council.
