Women urged to nominate for awards

NOMINATIONS are open for the 2007 Telstra Victorian Business Women’s Awards.
South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Inga Peulich urged the Greater Dandenong business community to nominate women doing great things in their respective industries.
“Whether they’re entrepreneurs and small business owners, or community leaders or corporate figureheads, inspirational women are right here in Greater Dandenong,” she said.
“The Telstra Business Women’s Awards are a wonderful way for the community to give these dedicated women the recognition they deserve and encourage them towards even greater success, so I ask all residents to nominate someone who inspires them.”
The awards also boast a national prize pool of more than $200,000, with entrants judged on professional achievements, roles and responsibilities, future plans, personal profile, leadership style, and innovation and creativity.
Awards are offered in the following categories:
– The Business Owner Award (for owners with a 50 per cent share or more in a business, with responsibility for key management decision making);
– The Private and Corporate Sector Award (for employees in the private and corporate sector or owners with less than a 50 per cent share of a business);
– The Community and Government Award (for employees of government departments, statutory bodies and not for profit organisations);
– The Business Innovation Award (for women who are using innovation to commercialise new products and/or services. This is open to eligible business owners, private sector employees and entrepreneurs); and
– The Young Business Women’s Award (for women aged 34 years and under as at 4 June 2007, who meet any of the above criteria).
Nominations opened last week and will continue until 10 May, when nominees are sent an entry pack with further details.
Businesswomen can also self-nominate.
The awards will be held at Crown Entertainment Complex on 9 October.
