Aris the talk of the town

By JARROD POTTER

FOOTBALL FEDERATION AUSTRALIA CUP
Round of 32
SOUTH Springvale’s night on the big stage is just a day away.
The Aris – still riding high after an amazing 9-8 penalty shootout victory over St Albans Saints in the Dockerty Cup semi-final – now set their gaze towards Northern New South Wales (NNSW) victors South Cardiff tomorrow night (Tuesday).
Having earned their place in the final four of the Dockerty Cup with its 3-0 victory over Hume City in the quarter finals, South Springvale will clash horns with NNSW’s best in hopes of advancing another step further towards the pinnacle of Australian cup soccer.
South Springvale coach Bill Lambropoulos said it has lifted the exposure of the club and left Aris as the club on Melbourne’s mind.
“Just the talk of the club at such a high level around the Melbourne precinct from club to club,” Lambropoulos said.
“Nobody really knew who we were and now we’re the talk of the town.”
South Springvale’s round of 32 FFA Cup match is scheduled for Tuesday July 29, 7.30pm at Kingston Heath Soccer Complex.
FOOTBALL FEDERATION VICTORIA
NPL – round 19
UNDONE by their former striker Jake Nakic, Dandenong Thunder was left to take a 1-2 loss – its fourth in a row.
Nakic, having left for Pascoe Vale in the transfer window, slammed on a pair of goals to steal the win at George Andrews Reserve, with Dandenong scoring through Feston Azizi to keep the margin manageable.
Dandenong Thunder faces Northcote City at home on Wednesday night before clashing with Werribee City away on Sunday.
In Round-18 NPL 1 action Dandenong City eased away to a 2-1 win over FC Bulleen Lions with a brace to Shaun Filipovic while Springvale White Eagles was humbled by Box Hill United 1-2.
