Paper recycling upgrade in Dandy South

A Dandenong South factory is set to undergo a $1.2 million upgrade to improve the quality of its recycled paper material.

Australian Paper Recovery’s plant received $475,000 from the State Government towards the project, which includes new waste paper sorting and compaction equipment.

The grant was from the Government’s Recycling Industry Transition Support Fund designed to boost the quality of recycled waste for local and international markets.

A $500,000 grant was provided for equipment upgrades at Polymer Processors, Braeside. The Government also provided $130,000 towards upgrades at Tambo Waste in Bairnsdale.

Energy, Environment and Climate Change Minister Lily D’Ambrosio said the grants would help reprocess more than 48,000 tonnes of paper, plastic and cardboard a year as well as create 19 jobs.

“We’re helping Victoria’s recycling sector adjust to changes in world recycling markets so that more material is diverted from landfill.”
